Cardiff Metropolitan University
Cardiff Metropolitan University offers a range of career-focused programmes, including undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Events Management. Our courses combine business management skills with key concepts of events management and engage with industry, through live projects and work placements. Our staff are committed to theoretically-informed research and consultancy that engages with practice and policy, for example, a review of Wales’ Major Events Strategy for the Welsh Government (2012), event evaluation and toolkit development for Monmouthshire County Council (2015-16), an economic impact study of the UEFA Champions League Final for the Football Association of Wales (June 2017) and of the Volvo Ocean Race Cardiff (June 2018). More recently, staff have been involved in externally-funded research projects, such as Next Tourism Generation (NTG) – a European partnership linking education and industry with a focus on digital, green and social skills (2019-2022), as well as Circular Economy projects (2020-2023) which seek to develop a greater understanding of circular economy principles amongst the public, private and third sectors.
