We produce innovative high-quality research which has application in the real world and that impacts on policy, participation, practice, and pressing social problems. We work with a range of research partners, funders, governments, and the public, undertaking research locally, nationally, and internationally. Staff in the Department publish in high-quality journals and books, have developed an international reputation in several fields, and continue to shape sport and event research. Our philosophy is to provide an education that combines theory, research, and practice in the fields of event and sport management. Our students benefit from high-profile guest speakers, field visits and live projects with industry partners that enhance the learning experience, the organisations and broader community. Our BSc (Hons) Sports Management degree is accredited by the Club Managers Association of Europe, and our BA (Hons) Events Management course has accreditation from the Association for Project Management and the Institute of Data Marketing.
